On Tuesday, 4th July 2023, Orange County’s premier orchestra, the Pacific Symphony, presents a wonderful performance of the Beatle’s iconic hits! The iconic British rock band dominated the ‘60s with incredible staples, such as “She Loves You,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “Yesterday,” “All You Need is Love,” and many more! Currently in its 44th season, the Pacific Symphony has grown into the largest U.S.-based orchestra. For the last 50 years, it has been recognized by music lovers and peers as one of the most outstanding ensembles across the world. The symphony has been led by illustrious music director Carl St. Clair for the past 32 years. Some of the orchestra’s most iconic performances include Symphony Voices with Verdi’s Otello, Great Performances with Peter Boye’s Ellis Island: The Dream of America,” “An American Requiem by Danielpour, “ and “Fire Water Paper: A Vietnam Oratorio By Goldenthal featuring Yo-Yo-Ma.
Founded in 1979, the Pacific Symphony was the brainchild of Keith Clark, who served as a student-assistant conductor under legendary composer and musician Roger Wagner. Clark founded the orchestra from his home kitchen and recruited freelance musicians from Southern California. Clark then served as the orchestra’s first music director. The symphony held its first concert at the Plummer Auditorium that same year. In the next few years, the orchestra performed at various venues, including Knott’s Berry Farm, the Music Center of Los Angeles County, Santa Ana High School Auditorium, and many more.
By 1986, Pacific Symphony became one of Orange County Performing Arts Center’s resident companies. Two years later, the symphony brought Kazimierz Kord as principal guest conductor. By 1990, Carl St. Clair became music director and maintained the position for over three decades. Under St. Clair’s tenure, the orchestra moved to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Moreover, he led the company on its first European Tour.
The Symphony brings the Classic Mystery Tour for the Fourth of July show. The incredible Beatles tribute features a whole show with two dozen Beatles songs played and performed as they were written. The Tour has had an amazing track record entertaining music lovers across the world. They also notably performed a sold-out show at the Sydney Opera House. The band, comprising musicians, is often backed by an orchestra. On Tuesday 4th, July 2023, the spectator will witness the collaboration of the Pacific Symphony and the Classic Mystery Tour.
