Nas is a Grammy Award-winning rapper who has been regarded for reviving the East Coast rap scene. He first emerged in 1991 when he performed on the track “Live at the Barbeque,” featured in Main Source’s debut album. Three years later, Nas released his highly-acclaimed debut record, Illmatic, considered one of the most influential hip-hop records of all time. Illmatic featured the hit singles “The World is Yours,” “It Ain’t Hard to Tell,” and “One Love.” The album debuted at number 12 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Illmatic has been revered by several music critics and regarded as the archetypal East Coast hip-hop record. Nas’ succeeding albums were all released with critical acclaim, most of which topped the Billboard 200 chart and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In 2020, he released his 13th studio album, King’s Disease, which earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
Fellow New York rappers Wu-Tang Clan joins Nas on this much-awaited tour. The hip-hop supergroup comprises nine individually accomplished rappers, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, RZA, GZA, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Raekwon, and Cappadonna. Their debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Like Nas’ debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang helped put the New York rap scene on the map. The album became somewhat of a sleeper hit after going platinum two years after its release. In 2020, the album was ranked number 27 in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
